On 7th February, Year 6 pupils, staff and parents from Lorenden Prep School near Faversham walked the Crab and Winkle Way from Whitstable to Canterbury to raise money for Catching Lives. At the end of the walk they came in to visit us at the Open Centre for some refreshments and to see how the money they raised will contribute towards helping Canterbury’s homeless. The rest of the school contributed towards the fundraising by coming to school in their pyjamas – including the staff! In all they raised an amazing £1545.93.
Catching Lives sent Clive the Bear along with handler Paul Todd to gratefully collect the cheque at school assembly on Friday 6th March. As well as receiving the cheque Paul and Clive were treated to a performance of two pieces of music the pupils had composed, inspired by their walk and visit to Catching Lives. Clive told Paul he hadn’t enjoyed himself so much in ages and it was great to see young children so caring and involved in helping others less fortunate than themselves.
