Winter Donations 2022

For Winter 2022, we have created a poster containing all of the items we would especially appreciate receiving. You can download it here. Thank you for your support.

Donating items to Catching Lives

We receive quite a lot of donations of various useful items from our local community, so please call ahead before bringing your donations to us, as we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to take them if we already have a surplus. We have limited space at our Day Centre and sometimes we have to turn donations away if we already have too much (this is particularly true for bulky items like bedding). Please don’t be offended if we have to say no – thank you for thinking of us.

Our number is 01227 464904 and we’re available between 9am and 2pm daily.

A decent cup of coffee

Our clients love a good cup of coffee and we love making it for them. Some of our best conversations with clients are around a decent cup of coffee and not only that, according to Healthline, coffee contains important vitamins and is actually good for your mental health. A 2011 Harvard study found that people who drink 4 or more cups of coffee per day are 53% less likely to die by suicide.

We’re grateful for donations of any good quality instant coffee, so next time you’re at the supermarket, why not pick us up a jar?

Gift Cards

“Giving someone a front door key is not the end, it’s the beginning.”

– Emma McCrudden (Outreach/Project Lead for Catching Lives)

Imagine moving into a home with nothing except the clothes on your back. When we manage to secure housing for clients, they often have nothing to get them started in their new life, not even a kettle or fresh bedding. As a small charity, we have to prioritise the space we have at the centre for our day clients to visit us and cannot store bulky items that might be needed for the future.

Gift cards are extremely useful to us, to enable us to establish what a client needs and take them shopping, allowing for them to choose a few items and begin to build a home with items they have picked out for themselves. Having something new for the first time in a long time (or for some, the first time ever), provides clients with dignity and choice.

We are especially keen to receive gift cards from Asda, Argos, B&M and The Range.
