Who We Are

Catching Lives is an independent charity based in Canterbury, supporting people who are homeless or insecurely housed in Canterbury & East Kent.

What We Want

Our vision is of a society where all are included and everyone, no matter how disadvantaged, can make a contribution. We’re working towards ending the harm caused to individuals and communities by homelessness, rough sleeping and insecure housing.

How We Work

Our Day Centre in Canterbury offers clients help with accessing accommodation, mental health support and looking for work, as well as daily meals, access to showers and laundry facilities.

Donating to Catching Lives

We're an independent charity and rely on public donations for much of our funds, along with grants from trusts and foundations, and income from our bookshop. We receive very little statutory funding. The support of the local community is extremely important for us to continue our vital work within the Canterbury and East Kent area.

Catching Lives Bookshop

For a local second-hand bookshop look no further than Catching Lives Books, the fund-raising bookshop for Catching Lives which is run entirely by a dedicated team of volunteers.

We occupy the most photographed building in Canterbury after the Cathedral! The Crooked House (also known as Sir John Boys House) is a delightfully skewed 17th century half-timbered three story building at the extreme end of Palace Street. It has projecting jetties over Palace Street and Kings Street and is opposite the famous Kings School.

Opening Hours

10.30 - 5.00pm Daily
