Wishing All Our Donors a Very Merry Christmas

Christmas Appeal 2022

As we approach Christmas, we are often asked for ideas for items that could be donated to our centre for our clients to make use of. We have compiled a relatively short list of items that are particularly useful this year to clients. Should you need a poster for a collection you are having for Catching Lives, you can find that here.

Gift Box/Care Package items:

  • New socks or underwear (male and female)
  • Baby wipes
  • Tissues (small pocket sized packs)
  • Hair gel
  • Nail scissors
  • Hand Cream
  • Bottles or cartons of water/juice/squash
  • Treat items- chocolate, crisps, cereal bars, etc
  • Batteries (AA and AAA)
  • Waterproof ponchos/foil blankets
  • Lighters/tobacco/filter/papers

Other Useful Items:

  • Gift Vouchers (Argos, Tesco, Dunelm Mill)
  • Flasks/ reusable water bottles
  • Torches
  • Mobile phone credit vouchers (for our clients to stay in touch with support services)

Supporting the homeless and vulnerably housed of Canterbury and the surrounding areas, we are a small charity that looks at every individual that comes through the doors of our day centre, knowing that there is no blanket fix to homelessness. The reasons for homelessness vary and the route to resolution also varies for each person and we tailor our support to ensure that our clients get the help and support they need, whether that be mental health support with our trainted professionals, help with making a homeless application, support with using our IT facilities to check applications and look for work, in addition to our kitchen that serves hot meals daily, hot showers and laundry facilities.

We are gratetful to every individual, business and organisation that has taken the time to fundraise or donate this year and if you would like to join our list of regular donors, or make a one-off donation this Christmas, you can do so via Just Giving.

Gift Cards

Imagine moving into a home with nothing except the clothes on your back. When we manage to secure housing for clients, they often have nothing to get them started in their new life, not even a kettle or fresh bedding. As a small charity, we have to prioritise the space we have at the centre for our day clients to visit us and cannot store bulky items that might be needed for the future.

Gift cards are extremely useful to us, to enable us to establish what a client needs and take them shopping, allowing for them to choose a few items and begin to build a home with items they have picked out for themselves. Having something new for the first time in a long time (or for some, the first time ever), provides clients with dignity and choice.

We are especially keen to receive gift cards from Asda, Argos, B&M and The Range.
