Join our team – Peer Support Workers (fixed term)

We are hiring image

Thanks to a grant from the South East School of Public Health, we're recruiting for two Peer Support Workers.

About the role

The Peer Support Worker (PSW) supports people using Catching Lives’ day centre to access services and support both on and off site, with a particular focus on health. Using their own lived experience of navigating services (e.g. homelessness, mental health, addiction, criminal justice), the PSW provides support and encouragement, for example through informal conversations and going with people to appointments.

This is a great opportunity for people who are interested in moving into support work or charity work to gain some initial experience and to develop their skills. We’re looking for people who are good at active listening and clear communication. You’ll need to be able to work in a calm, non-judgemental way, and to maintain professional boundaries. We’ll offer you training and support throughout.

These roles are offered on a part time, fixed term basis of 6 hours per week for 6 months, paid at £12p/h (monthly payroll). The weekly working pattern will be agreed with each successful candidate.

This role is open to anyone with the skills listed in the person specification (download the Job Pack below for details). The post is subject to Enhanced DBS and reference checks, and we welcome applications from people with past convictions. If you would like to ask questions or have a chat about the role before applying, please call 01227 464 904 and ask for Graeme or Emma.

How to apply

Apply by sending a CV (if you have one) with a short covering email giving us some examples of how you meet the person specification. See Job Pack for details.

Application deadline: Wednesday 9 October, 9am. Interviews: 16-17 October (tbc).
