CCS Coordinator
CatchingLives is seeking to employ a Coordinator to run the Canterbury Community Shelter (CCS). This is a rolling night shelter that houses the rough sleepers of Canterbury during the winter months. It is a varied, challenging and rewarding job that includes managing the team of evening and overnight staff members at each of the Church venues, where our clients will be sleeping, and you will also be responsible for recruiting, inducting and managing a team of volunteers who help the paid staff in various roles.
You will also work with vulnerable adults (which include those with mental health and substance misuse issues) to help them find permanent housing to move into when the shelter ends. Experience in this area is essential. The role involves completing Risk and Needs Assessments to ensure the clients who are offered a space in the shelter are safe. You will be responsible for deciding which clients are given a space each night and which are not.
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract type: Fixed term 4 months
Salary- £25, 773 per annum

Start date: Monday 28th November (pending DBS and reference checks).
Overnight Project Workers
We are also looking to employ Project Workers who will be responsible for the smooth running of the overnight shifts at each of the Church venues, where our clients will be sleeping. You will be in charge of a small team of volunteers and working with vulnerable adults (which include those with mental health and substance misuse issues). Experience with the client group is preferred but not essential, as training will be given.
Hours: 26-39 hours per week (13 hour shifts over 2 or 3 nights).
£10.90 per hour
Contract type: Fixed term 3 months
Location: Canterbury, East Kent

Evening Project Worker
We are also seeking staff to work at Canterbury Open Centre overseeing the evening shifts. This involves checking the clients into the building and overseeing transfer to that evening’s church venue.
Hours: 3.5 hour shifts (1630-20:00)
£10.90 per hour
Contract type: Fixed term 3 months
Location: Canterbury, East Kent

Start date: 1st December 2022
