Heart of the City Art Trail

We’re really pleased to have been asked by the Canterbury Festival to be part of their Socially Distanced Community Art Trail which is taking place between 17th October-31st October.

With the help of two talented local artists, Zo Defferary and Charlotte Chapman, we have created a window display in the Old Cathedral Gift Shop in Burgate, Canterbury, which the Cathedral have kindly allowed us to use for the duration of the Festival. The display showcases two projects that we have run in recent months.

Schools Competition
To celebrate both 10 years of Catching Lives working with the homeless in Canterbury and East Kent, and also World Homeless Day on the 10th October, we ran an art competition for children of primary school age to create a poster using our logo. The winners will feature in our calendar for next year.

Along with all the competition entries, artist Zo Defferary has made a series of large cubes using bamboo and tissue paper and has translated the competition entries on to them for the Canterbury Festival Art Trail. Clients and volunteers were also involved with helping to create the display. The calendars will be available from our bookshop or by contacting arts@catchinglives.org

Art & Wellbeing in a Box

5 artists, 10 workshops and 400 individual boxes created and delivered during Lockdown. The project, funded by the Saving Lives Innovation Fund, has allowed us to deliver workshops in a safe way and has helped to alleviate some of the isolation, stress and anxiety felt by clients, staff, volunteers and the wider community during Lockdown.

If you have time to do the art trail or just visit our window display it would be great if you could use social media to promote the charity. Using @catchinglives @No1Cathedral @canterburyfest (Instagram) and @CatchingLives (Twitter) and any other appropriate #’s.
