A tribute to Martin Edwards

Martin Edwards volunteered at Catching Lives since March 2014

Catching Lives would like to pay tribute to Martin Edwards who very sadly died suddenly on Wednesday 9 August.

Martin volunteered in our kitchen since 2014 and over the years has enthusiastically run cookery lessons for clients.

Graeme Solly, Manager at Catching Lives, said: “Everyone – staff and clients – always looked forward to seeing him, not just for his warmth and friendliness but also for his wonderful cooking and ability to keep us all calm and organised in the kitchen. His cookery lessons have benefited so many people over the years, and it was clear that Martin always enjoyed doing these sessions. I always admired his passion and ability to pass on knowledge to others which he always made look so easy and effortless. Our thoughts are with Martin’s family.”

David Edwards, Martin’s son, said: “My dad was incredibly proud to volunteer with you, being able to help and support your clients. He talked often about it and how rewarding it was for him.”

The family has asked for charitable donations to two charities including Catching Lives instead of flowers. Donations can be made via this link and entering Martin’s name.
