Everyone at Catching Lives would like to thank every single person who made a donation to our our Covid-19 appeal, which has now closed. Thanks to the generosity of our community, it raised a magnificent £6519.50, which with Gift Aid added, brings a total of £7793.49. This funding will all go towards helping us to feed Canterbury’s homeless during the Coronavirus lockdown.
Since 28th March, we have provided 5477 meals for the homeless people being accommodated at Canterbury Travelodge, but, as well as continuing to well prepare and deliver 150+ meals daily for those people, we are also providing food and support for the rough sleepers who, for one reason or another are still sleeping rough on the street. The increase in the amount of food we are having to prepare has greatly reduced our stock of donated food; this funding will help us to re-stock that, as well as meet the extra costs of providing food that has to be delivered, rather than eaten on our premises. These costs relate to the large amount of disposable takeaway packaging and cutlery that we are using for every meal. It will also enable us to provide items like re-usable water bottles for homeless people.
Receiving this funding during these uncertain times gives us great peace of mind, knowing that we have the means to continue feeding Canterbury’s homeless for the duration of lockdown and beyond.
